As an anti-coccidial drug, monensin sodium can be used as feed for broilers under 16 weeks of age. The dosage is 90-110g/t. It is contraindicated in horses, and it will cause death after use; it is forbidden to use it with tiamulin and troleandomycin at the same time. A broad-spectrum antibiotic similar to gentamicin, with high activity against gram-negative bacilli.
