The sulfoNHS acetate acylating agent (sulfosuccinimide acetate) is water soluble. Sulfo-NHS acetate irreversibly reacts with and blocks primary amines at pH greater than 7, such as in lysine, to generate acylated forms. The use of sulfo-NHS acetate prevents polymerization when performing protein cross-linking reactions. Other uses of sulfoNHS acetate include preventing polymerization when combining hapten peptides with carrier proteins to produce immunogens.
Uses: Determination of chromogenic substrates for phosphatases; detection of chromogenic substrates for acidic and alkaline phosphatases; the reaction can produce a yellow terminal product, which can be read at a wavelength of 405nm, and the reaction can be detected by 3 N NaOH solution termination.
