Bis(dibenzylideneacetone)palladium is a compound used as a potentiometric membrane sensor component to selectively determine the presence of thiocyanate in the urine of smokers. Bis(dibenzylideneacetone)palladium is also used as one of the homogeneous catalysts for the synthesis of tricyclopentadiene from dicyclopentadiene.
As a catalyst, it is used in coupling reactions such as Suzuki, Kumada and Negishi.
